The short version
Thirty days to change your mind on unused goods in their original packaging. Motors that have been run, rigged or registered cannot go back unless they are faulty.
Return window
| Item | Window | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Parts and accessories | 30 days | Unused, original packaging |
| Outboard motors — unregistered, never run | 14 days | Crated as delivered, no fluids added |
| Outboard motors — run or registered | Not returnable | Warranty claim instead |
| Special orders | Not returnable | Confirmed with you before ordering |
How to start a return
- Email support@jacobengines.com with your order number and the reason.
- We send you an RMA number and the return address.
- Write the RMA number on the outside of the package.
Returns sent without an RMA number cannot be matched to an order and will be refused.
Who pays the shipping
If the item is faulty, mis-described or we sent the wrong thing, we pay both ways. If you have simply changed your mind, return shipping is yours, and any original shipping we paid on a free-freight order is deducted from the refund.
Restocking
A 15% restocking fee applies to returned outboard motors, because the motor has to be re-inspected and re-crated before it can be sold again. There is no restocking fee on parts and accessories, or on anything returned because of our error.
Refunds
We inspect the return within 3 business days of arrival, then refund to your original payment method. Your bank typically takes a further 5–10 business days to show it.
A return that arrives used, incomplete or damaged in transit may be refunded in part or declined. We will photograph it and explain before we decide anything.
Damaged on arrival
Note it on the delivery receipt before you sign, photograph it, and email us within 48 hours. That receipt is what lets us claim against the carrier — see our shipping policy.
Cancelling an order
Before it ships, in full, no charge. Once a freight shipment has been collected it has to be handled as a return.
